Sorry, but I don't think he likes you as more than a friend. At first I thought maybe he was a shy guy who was afraid to tell you how he felt or afraid of rejection, but then you said that he is really outgoing, so I doubt that would be true. I think hes just a nice guy and he gave you his number for school purposes. I usually have at least one person from each of my classes whos number I get (usually just a person sittinng next to me or someone who looks nice) just in case I need help with something from class or miss a class or something. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, but I don't think hes really into you.
